Noah's Skylander Cake

Today Noah celebrated his 10th birthday and what better way to celebrate than with a cake from Give Me Some Sugar! This cake by far is one of my favorites. Noah's mom Tammy called me a week and a half ago about possibly making a cake for her son Noah. She was in luck as my plans for that weekend had fell thru and I was available. This cake was also a first in that I had not been able to try out my air brush machine on a cake yet. I hadn't even practiced with my machine. It pretty much has remained in the box since I purchased it. So when I found out just how detailed she wanted this cake, I was excited and at the same time nervous about making this cake. Nervous that once I sprayed that cake with color there was no turning back. All the hard work in making the cake could be ruined with just one spray gone wrong. In the end I was so proud of myself and pleased that the cake turned out better than I thought it would. Both Tammy and Noah loved the cake I was able to make for the party. Check out the pictures of the before and after.

Disney's BRAVE cake

The new year has officially kicked off and the first cake of the year was a first. It was a week ago that I was asked to make a BRAVE cake for a young girl celebrating her 7th birthday. This was definitely a first as I have never made a cake in the shape of a dolls dress. I wasn't even sure i would find a doll that was made for putting on a cake that would come close to looking like Merida from the movie BRAVE. So with some creative thinking I was able to use the actual doll for the cake. I was able to preserve her body from being covered in buttercream so that she was able to play with this doll after her cake was gone, but that is a secret I choose not to share. LOL I even made her bow and arrow from a tutorial I saw on the internet. All in all I think the cake turned out wonderful and my customer loved the fact that I was able to turn her ideas in to a finished product.
